Latto, or Miss Mulatto as she is usually addressed, gained prominence after her remarkable success in the TV show, The Rap Game. Since then, she has continued to drop hits upon hits while also gaining more followers on social media platforms. Latton is a woman of diverse talents. She is a singer, dancer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. Also, she has so many endorsements from brands.

Who is Latto?

Latto was born Alyssa Michelle Stephens on December 22, 1998, in Columbus, Ohio, United States of America. She was born to Misti Pitt, her mother, and Shayne Stevens. Interestingly, her mother is white while her father is black. Latto parents are mixed, which also explains her mixed race.

Mulatto and her parents moved to Georgia when she was only two years old. She does have a sibling, Brooklyn Nikole. Latto parents were not necessarily wealthy, but they had enough to send their kids to school. Latto had her high school education at Lovejoy High School. Unfortunately, we do not have complete information about her college education.

Latto started rapping at the tender age of 10. She was very sure of her talents and knew that she would become prominent in her heart. As a student, she was keenly interested in being in front of the camera. As fate would have it, she joined the cast of Queen Latifah, and Jermaine Dupri produced the show – the Rap Game, and as they say, the rest is history. Also, Latto parents made it easy for her to do whatever she wanted to do.

Latto’s Career

With several talents, Latto became a hit sensation after featuring on the first season of The Rap Game, a competition she won. Latto can write, sing, perform; she is just a bundle of many talents. With her popularity already set in stone, Latto decided to release her music. She also learned to do shows on her own without any record label. In 2019, her song Bitch From Da Souf became a hit. This made one of the biggest record labels in the country, RCA Records, sign her.

Since her signing on paper with RCA Records, Latto has released a studio album, three mixtapes, five singles, and three EPs. This shows how invested she is in her music. Fortunately for her, most of her songs have become fans’ favorites.

Latto Has Won Several Awards

Latto parents must be proud of their daughter with her rise in the music industry. For every hard work, there is usually recognition that comes in awards. Latto won the Youth Hip Hop/R&B Award at the Georgia Music Awards In 2006. She also won MTV’s Global Push Artist of the Month in 2021. Latto Parents: Her Father Wanted Her to Be a Drag Racer

We all know how parents can be when they want a version of what they feel is right for them. The same applies to Latto parents. Her father, Shayne, used to be a drag racer. He tried to persuade his daughter to join him in the family profession, but Latto had other things in mind. Still, it doesn’t mean Latto didn’t grow up learning how to drive racecars. In one of her interviews, she told one DJ Vlad, how her father tried everything possible to ensure that she didn’t lose interest in driving.

Mulatto Spent Days In Jail

An incident of mistaken identities happened when Miss Mulatto was arrested by police officers on felony theft in 2019. It wasn’t until her sister came to tell the police officers that it was a case of mistaken identities. After her arrest, she was charged to court. But the judge set her free after she had no criminal record.

However, the release system of the station failed, and as a result, Mulatto had to spend another day in jail. She finally realized that the identity of the actual criminal looked like her. Well, when life gives you a lemon, make lemonade. Latto used the incident to make a hit song.
